چکیده

The Tree-of-Hubs Location Problem is studied. This problem, which combines several aspects of some location, network design and routing problems, is inspired by those transportation systems in which (i) several locations send and receive a product, and (ii) the performance can be improved by using transshipment points (hubs) where the product is collected and distributed. We want to locate a fixed number of hubs and, instead of assuming that the transshipment points are fully interconnected, we require them to be connected by means of a tree. Potential applications appear when the set-up costs for the links between hubs are very high, so full interconnection is prohibitive. Three Integer Programming formulations are proposed and computationally compared. All of them are carefully implemented, with the natural constraints tightened as much as possible. The problem turns out to be difficult since in this initial stage of the research, only instances of size 20 can be approached and, sometimes, optimally solved.

Upgrading nodes in tree-shaped hub location

Abstract. In this paper, we introduce the Tree of Hubs Location Problem with Upgrading, a mixture of the Tree of Hubs Location Problem, presented in [15], and the Minimum Cost Spanning Tree Problem with Upgraded nodes, studied for the first time in [19]. In addition to locate the hubs, to determine the tree that connects the hubs and to allocate non-hub nodes to hubs, a decision has to be made ...

A Reliable Multi-objective p-hub Covering Location Problem Considering of Hubs Capabilities

In the facility location problem usually reducing total transferring cost and time are common objectives. Designing of a network with hub facilities can improve network efficiency. In this study a new model is presented for P-hub covering location problem. In the p-hub covering problem it is attempted to locate hubs and allocate customers to established hubs while allocated nodes to hubs are in...

A Congested Double Path Approach for a Hub Location-allocation Problem with Service Level at Hubs

In this paper an uncapacitated multiple allocation p-hub median problem is discussed. The model minimizes the transportation cost based on inventory service level at hubs through double paths between hubs. Inventory service level is defined as the percent of inventory shortage of vehicles at hubs according to passengers demand and replenishment time of vehicles. A real data from 25 nodes of mun...

ارائه یک روش ابتکاری ترکیبی مبتنی بر الگوریتم ژنتیک برای حل مسأله هاب پوششی در حالت فازی

Hub location problem is one of the new issues in location problems. This kind of location problem is widely used in many transportation  and telecommunication networks. Hubs are facilities that serve as transshipment and switching point to consolidate flows at certain locations for transportation, airline and postal systems so they are vital elements of such these networks. The location and numb...

Complete / Incomplete Hierarchical Hub Center Single Assignment Network Problem

In this paper we present the problem of designing a three level hub center network. In our network, the top level consists of a complete network where a direct link is between all central hubs.  The second and third levels consist of star networks that connect the hubs to central hubs and the demand nodes to hubs and thus to central hubs, respectively. We model this problem in an incomplete net...
